High Oil Content Slack Wax

 Slack wax is an important byproduct in the refining process of crude oil, playing a crucial role in the production of various types of paraffin waxes. One specific type, high-oil slack wax, contains a higher oil content compared to standard slack wax and offers unique characteristics. This high-oil variant is particularly valuable in applications that require enhanced flexibility and moisture retention.

Production Process :

High-oil slack wax is produced during the de-oiling process of crude paraffin wax. The process begins with the distillation of crude oil, separating it into different wax fractions. After this, high-oil slack wax is produced by further refining the crude wax to remove excess paraffin and other solid waxes.

Initially, crude paraffin wax is mixed with solvents such as hexane or toluene. This mixture is then treated at controlled temperatures to extract the oil content. After extraction, the oil is separated from the paraffin wax through filtration and temperature control. The result is slack wax, which is then purified to achieve the desired oil content and specific characteristics.

High-oil slack wax typically contains 20% to 40% oil, which is significantly higher than the oil content found in standard slack wax. This increased oil content gives it unique properties. Some key specifications include:

  • Oil Content: 20% to 40% oil
  • Melting Point: It has a lower melting point, typically between 50°C to 60°C, compared to regular paraffin wax.
  • Color: Pale to light yellow hue
  • Viscosity: Due to the higher oil content, the viscosity is higher, giving it enhanced flexibility.
  • Purity: The purity varies depending on the refining process, but it usually consists of a mixture of paraffin, oil, and trace impurities.
